Singular Focus; Multiple Intelligences

LTI Wajir has a singular focus: to train middle-level professionals in Animal Health and Range Management who will serve pastoral communities across Kenya. However, we recognize that students possess multiple intelligences – linguistic, logical, spatial, kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal and naturalistic.

Our teaching approach respects diverse learning styles, ensuring every student can succeed regardless of their background. Whether you learn best through hands-on field training, visual demonstrations, group discussions, or independent study, LTI Wajir provides an inclusive environment for your growth.

Teaching Methodology

At LTI Wajir, our teaching methodology combines theoretical instruction with practical, hands-on training. Lectures are supplemented with laboratory sessions, field visits, farm demonstrations and community outreach programmes.

Our KVB-registered lecturers use learner-centered approaches including:

  • Interactive classroom discussions
  • Practical demonstrations at the institutional farm
  • Case studies from real pastoral communities
  • Group projects and collaborative research
  • Audio-visual aids in smart classrooms
  • Field-based assessments and problem-solving exercises

This blended methodology ensures that graduates leave LTI Wajir with both knowledge and practical skills.

Professional Learning Program for Staff

LTI Wajir is committed to continuous professional development for our teaching and support staff. We believe that excellent trainers produce excellent graduates.

Our Professional Learning Program (PLP) includes:

Regular training workshops on modern Animal Health and Range Management techniques
Collaborative research opportunities with partner institutions
Exchange visits to other livestock training institutes
Capacity building in emerging areas like drone technology for rangeland mapping
Training on mainstreaming cross-cutting issues (Gender, HIV/AIDS, drug substance abuse)

Through this program, we ensure our lecturers remain at the forefront of livestock education and are equipped to deliver high-quality training to students from pastoral communities.
